Lee was a major dissappointment Barker’s book. The content lacks a general description of a book by its title to be expected. The reader is too chaotic of a linear path of instruction, without any explanation why the chosen method will be presented. Wireless Hacking might the absence of alternative solutions, or select a better adaptation to the specific needs of the readers. With no room to maneuver, the reader is tempted to believe that the methods presented are the best and only frequency is completely wrong and distorted. My advice is, spend your money elsewhere. Resources are available, much better than Lee Barken is available. Rating: 1 / 5
This book aims to educate, inspire and also a resource for building community wireless networks. For me, this book is to meet my expectations. When it comes to the elements of building a wireless network, some questions are difficult to obtain clear information. Configuring m0n0wall is a good example. Search in the forums! Step by step guides to specific versions of hardware and software can make it difficult to keep the current book, but does not become infinitely more to me than any attempt to make a general statement. In order to illustrate this point, it’s a long way to the cactus as a network monitoring tool to install. You have to start the installation of Apache, PHP, Perl, MySQL, and RRD before it. I would never have done, but Michael Mee made step by step a breeze. Some of the software had been updated since the book was written, but you can choose the same version as in the book. However, I found that the methodology in the book makes it clear that he, the latest version of each caso.El fact that the book does what many contributions that each chapter is written by an expert in this specific area can use. These people have done their best interest and exchange capacidad.Hay many photos and screenshots to make it easier to comprensión.Si you are in WiFi that this book on the shelf or more than one must have. The word piracy in the title gives me the same feeling when I when I pursued by a policeman! However, I believe that other diferentes.Espero that taxpayers and the editor, hold the book so far, as the hardware and software being developed will work. Rating: 5 / 5
I had wanted to build a community wireless network for a long time now, but digging through Google Book Search and proved to be difficult to anybody anything, I think, until I found this book. Read the first 30 pages in the bookstore, and I was addicted to was having. The only problem I see here that it seems to do things in a cookie cutter to allow flexablity poor (802. 11. return is a good idea, but there are other possibilities that hardware is no longer being made and have, that cheap hacks learn things. I guess that’s why we call wireless hacking. The assumption is that a large body of knowledge, which is great for me because I am familiar with vi and UNIX etc, but a beginner can be a little confusing . It would have been a little friendlier for beginners, sometimes I have the whole book was something of a hack, as they rushed to throw something together that people could use, and there is nothing like this book. It seems too much on the configuration of Windows, which I find annoying focus, as I OS X / Linux. He often felt like hey, I read my thoughts, everything I wanted to use for years, they have. It is a little bit overpriced, if I would say that it is worth $ 20-25. Rating: 4 / 5
If you are very interested in piracy, with Wi-Fi and those likely to enjoy Wireless Hacking Projects for Wi-Fi Enthusiasts by Lee Barken and SoCalFreeNet. org Wireless User Group. Personally, I was expecting something a little different. . . List of chapters: a brief overview of the wireless world; SoCalFreeNet. org: large-scale structure of the Community Wireless Networks, Wireless Protection of our community, wireless access points, wireless client access, Wireless OS, monitoring your network, low business costs of network options for mesh antenna, Building Outdoor Enclosures and Antenna Masts, Solar-Powered Access Points and Repeaters, Wireless 802nd 11 hacks, ÍndiceOK to be fair, there are lots of technical information in this book. SoCalFreeNet. ORG is a group committed to provide the wireless networking community, access to a Wi-Fi coverage for all in the range of the network. To go into detail of what hardware to use as they configure it, the reason for the creation of a gateway, creating a firewall to the network, and so on. If this is your interest or if you are interested in setting up such a network in your area, I do not think there is another book that todo.Dicho this would probably be a little less harsh would help if the book was entitled How to build a community wireless network SoCalFreeNet based. Model org. Someone to play with Wi-fi at home, build Cantenna or possibly the control of devices over the wireless network to dig hard to find in the book what you want. The information is there, but seems to be subordinate to the main purpose (or what I perceive to be) that can extend wireless access to the masas.Así, or depending on what you are looking for may not be a good match for you . I had expected something other than the title and the cover, and was a little disappointed. . . Rating: 3 / 5
